1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Food Scanning Data: When you scan food labels, images are temporarily processed to extract ingredient information. We use Google Gemini Vision API to analyze these images. Images are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.
- Usage Data: Information about your eating habits, scanned products, progress tracking, streaks, and preferences that you choose to save within the App. All usage data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and general location (country/region) for analytics purposes.
- Usage Analytics: Information about how you interact with the App, including features used, session duration, and app performance data.
- Crash Reports: If the App crashes, we may collect diagnostic information to help us improve the App.
- Session Recordings: We may record your interactions within the App, including screen views and touch gestures, to understand how users navigate the App and improve the experience. These recordings do not capture keyboard input, passwords, or any text you type. Recordings are anonymized and automatically deleted after 30 days.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect precise geolocation data
- We do not access your photo library (only the camera for scanning)
- We do not collect biometric data
- We do not collect contacts or address book information
- We do not store the images you scan
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Process and analyze food labels you scan
- Track your progress and maintain your eating streaks
- Personalize your experience within the App
- Process subscription payments through the App Store
- Send you service-related communications
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our services
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom (UK), we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide you with the App's services and features.
- Legitimate Interests: Processing for analytics, security, and improving our services, where our interests do not override your rights.

4. Third-Party Services
We share your information with the following third-party service providers who help us operate the App:
4.1 Google Gemini Vision API
Purpose: To analyze food label images and extract ingredient information.
Data Shared: Images of food labels you scan (temporarily, for processing only).

4.2 PostHog
Purpose: Product analytics, feature flags, and usage tracking to improve the App.
Data Shared: Anonymous device identifiers, app usage events, session metadata, and anonymized session recordings of app interactions. No personal information is shared unless you are signed in, in which case your user ID may be associated with usage data.

4.3 Superwall
Purpose: Subscription management and paywall functionality.
Data Shared: Anonymous usage data related to subscription flows.

4.4 Apple
Purpose: Payment processing for in-app subscriptions.
Data Shared: Payment information is processed entirely by Apple and is not shared with us. We do not collect or store any payment details.

5. Data Retention
We retain your information as follows:
- On-Device Data: Your progress, scan history, and preferences are stored locally on your device. This data is removed when you uninstall the App or clear your data through the App's settings.
- Scanned Images: Not retained. Images are processed in real-time and immediately discarded.
- Analytics Data: Anonymous usage analytics are retained for up to 24 months, then automatically deleted.
We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal claims).
6. Your Rights
6.1 Rights for All Users
Regardless of your location, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
BerryPure is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information promptly.
10. Do Not Track
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activity tracked. Due to the lack of a common standard for interpreting DNT signals, our App does not currently respond to DNT signals.
11. Automated Decision-Making
BerryPure uses automated processing to analyze food labels and provide toxicity scores and ingredient information. This processing is based on algorithms that evaluate ingredient lists against known databases of additives and their classifications.
These automated analyses are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you. You always have the right to verify results independently.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.
